There are efforts being made to translate the rest of the game. ![]() Almost all dialogue is currently untranslated. This is the old one, created by Burango, and the new one by Yuzucchi can be found at the MH Oldschool Discord. The old patch covers more content but the new one is more accurate overall. There are currently two English patches for MH2. I highly recommend joining the Oldschoold Discord for private server updates and news about MH2 in general. It will be finished when it's finished, so please do not harass them about progress. Monster Hunter Oldschool is currently working on creating a private server for MH2. Alphadivine's video on his channel "MH United" breaks down the content on the patch very concisely, so I recommend watching that if you are interested in seeing what content is available with Gigaproto's patch. The online content can currently only be played solo. Despite that, the online content in Dundorma is accessible with Gigaproto's Patch. Monster Hunter Dos, also known as simply MH2, currently does not have a private server. Otherwise, everything is translated and understandable. The biggest example is Dual Swords, which multiple NPCs make references to, despite the weapon class not appearing in the game. Given this, there is some dialogue that references content only in the western version. Likewise, most of the English patch is just directly moved over from MH1US. You can also just try to wing it and hope past experience will translate enough. Given this, I recommend that new players try out MH1US or Freedom's opening in order to play the tutorials first. One of the exceptions is the "Voice of the Chief" tutorial messages. It can be found in the Oldschool Discord. There is a mostly complete English patch for MH1JP. Save files can be transferred to MHG, so you can still play G-rank content with your save. It is recommended that you start with the original MH1JP as opposed to MHG, as this private server is much more stable and has more players than MHG. There are also sales like the original game, such as claw day and honey day. Event quests sourced mostly from MH1US are available, alongside some custom events such as gathering quests. It is possible to play online in 8-player hubs like the original game. ![]() The Monster Hunter Oldschool discord server is the place to go in order to learn how to set it up and access the server. I like the game, I just haven't been in the mode to grind it when I could wait for the expansion and then just roll into the new content as I shake off the rust and get back into my HBG groove. The original Monster Hunter game, MH1JP, has a private server. Hell, I 'beat' Rise on switch back when they 'finished' the story and have not picked it up since. I have gotten several of the youngs guys who work for me hooked on the monster hunter series including my 16 yr old son. After 28 years in the canadian army I have finally found a series of books that I can take on deployment and read over and over. Im sure there are a lot more niche ones, but I think these are mostly the main ones that are keeping twice as many playing World. Hi, Larry, First things first love your books, especially the monster hunter and dead six series. These would be the 5 most reasonable excuses I can come up with. Incase you missed it in the last reason MODS! Monster Hunter World was the first global released PC Monster Hunter game, which instantly pulled a large crowd excited to both enjoy modding AND play a franchise that has been on consoles its whole life (minus the online game in japan) on their more powerful PC's built to play high graphic games. Those numbers will raise a bit closer to/at release. ![]() Those who have not finished Rise might have stopped (or avoided buying it) waiting for the expansion so they can do it all at their pace, instead of having to put the game down "right when it started getting good". Just look at other posts on this subreddit and you will see a LOT of older game and people cheering for people playing them. As such, many people are probably on World because they did everything in Rise and are playing their game. It is a franchise where you enjoy playing them until you hit a wall/need a break from it and then hop over to a version you enjoy more. Septem(PS4 / Xbox One) Janu(PC) The latest entry in the critically acclaimed 40 million unit selling action RPG series, Monster Hunter: World introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players take on the role of a hunter that seeks and slays ferocious beasts in heart-pounding battles. Monster Hunter is not a game where you play the most recent game because it is the most recent. Many of them don't like the graphics in Rise and enjoy World more. Monster Hunter World has been around for a LOT longer than Rise, it has a dedicated player group that has been wanting to play monster hunter on the PC for ages.
